Our History
As a division of 1st in Video-Music World, Discount Golf World is a golf retail store located in Quincy, Illinois. 1st in Video-Music World started as a brick and mortar stereo store in 1975. Over nearly four decades, 1st in Video-Music World has grown and evolved into a parent company that currently operates three divisions, each with their own local retail store and online eCommerce site. These companies are: Discount Golf World, Quincy Discount Travel, and the Internet Retail Top 500 member, 4ElectronicWarehouse.
Discount Golf World started in January of 2005 after founder Dennis Boudreau decided to try his hand in the Golf industry after 37 years in the electronics business and 21 years in the travel business. A month after the concept was born, Discount Golf World had its grand opening with a completely stocked golf store and a fully-functional website, DiscountGolfWorld.com.
All of our day-to-day operations are done in-house. From our online presence to our customer call center, to our order processing and distribution, every step is managed and executed internally. We pride ourselves on unique content creation, knowledgeable staff and close relationships with both our customers and our vendors.

Here in Quincy, we have several experts available to assist customers with all of their golf needs. We believe in providing our customers with exceptional support so they can choose the right equipment to improve both their game and overall enjoyment of the sport. For this reason, we’re fortunate to have a golf professional on staff able to provide lessons and fittings in-house using our Full Swing golf simulator or on the course.

Occasionally our staff is asked how and why all of our divisions manage to fit together so well. The answer is simple: Passion. The founding company and the growth of each division have all stemmed from a true passion for each industry. It is often easier to describe each origin as a mere hobby; however, what may have once been a hobby has now transitioned into a business where the work we do is much more than an ordinary job. It is with this philosophy that we have continued to grow both professionally and personally. As a composition of several generations and a close-knit group of friends, we believe in cross-department development not only for the improvement of each division independently, but also for the success of the team.
There is a common phrase used within our organization to represent this passion. “When work becomes work, it is time to do something else.” By no means does this imply our jobs do not require hard work, but rather reiterates the importance of personal goals and behavior. We know the joy for the job our employees have is a direct correlation to their own success and the success of this business. - All damaged items must be claimed through the FedEx damaged claims process. Most claims are processed within 7 business days and product is reshipped to the customer.
- Missing or stolen deliveries must go through the proper shipping carrier claim process. This process can take up to 7 business days for the carrier to investigate the missing package. Once the investigation is closed, replacement product will be sent if necessary.
- Any order returned to us undelivered will be credited back to the original purchase credit card less the cost of shipping on a pre-paid shipment.

A2: For most items, Discount Golf World offers a 30-day refund or merchandise exchange policy. All returns require a RA (return authorization) number.
A3: A Return Authorization Number is given to a customer when his/her item(s) is eligible for refund or exchange.
A4: Upon completion of the online return process and indicating the reason for which you wish to return an item, you will receive a RA Number . You may also call customer service and a RA Number will be issued to you upon eligibility.
A5: All items returned for either an exchange or refund must be returned in new condition - as received at delivery time. Clubs may not be returned after they have been hit/used. All bags, apparel or other accessories must have all tags in tact and not removed or altered. All shoes must be sent back in the original box, and should be sent in an overbox to avoid damages to the original container.
A6: Apart from custom orders, all items which are returned in the condition of which they were received will be eligible for refund or exchange. Clothing/shoes that have been worn (or have had their tags removed), equipment which has been used, etc. will not be accepted. If a customer attempts to return unacceptable items it will be shipped back to the customer at his/her expense and subject to a fee.

However, we do recommend that the customer insures the product they are sending back and keeps the tracking number, as we are not responsible for any packages that are lost in transit to us.
A9: All products sold by DGW carry their full manufacture warranties direct from the manufacturer. All warranty issues should be handled directly through the manufacturer. Normal wear and tear and or mis-use of items will not be covered under warranty nor are they eligible for return.
A10: In the case that an item is delivered to you, and it is not the item that was ordered, please contact customer service and we will make arrangements to get the proper item to you.
A11: Shipping fees are not included in your refund amount. On orders that originally received free shipping, the actual shipping charges for the returned items will be deducted from your refund. Exchange items will be shipped to you at our expense.
A12: All custom orders, i.e. Personalized or Custom Logoed Golf Balls or Custom Golf Clubs, are not available for return. All sales on these types of items are final. No goods will be accepted without a RA number. Items received without a RA number will be returned to the shipper at their expense.
A13: Once your return is received and inspected by our returns department a credit will be issued to the original form of payment (this process may take up to 48 hours after shipment delivery). Please note, depending upon processing time it may take up to 5 days for the credit to be reflected on your account.
